CROWDS gathered outside Energie Fitness in Hyde to pay tribute to Ricky Hatton, the former world champion boxer and beloved hometown hero.
It comes almost two weeks after the former world champion boxer was found dead at his home in Gee Cross on Sunday, September 14, at the age of 46.

Supporters released sky blue balloons into the air, a symbol of Hatton’s love for his favourite football team and the colours he wore proudly in the ring.
The gym, which Ricky founded in 2009 and launched alongside Muhammad Ali, invited people to gather for a minute’s silence and balloon release on Sunday, September 28.
Paying tribute, the gym described Ricky as ‘much more than a world-class fighter and exceptional trainer’.
They added: “He was a remarkable person who inspired countless individuals. His influence reached far beyond Hyde and the local community, touching the lives of millions. Everyone here is devastated by this loss but his legacy will live on in the hearts of those he motivated, mentored and uplifted.”
The event drew friends, fans, and former gym members, all united in grief and remembrance of the man known across the sporting world as “The Hitman.”
