RECORDS have tumbled at Ashton-under-Lyne Golf Club after Ryan Brown completed the course in just 59 shots.
Friday, August 29 should have seen another regular pro/am competition take place.
But Mr Brown’s scoring made it far from ordinary as he recorded three eagles to leave him needing a par on the final hole to break the magical 60 mark for the first time in 112 years.

And if there was any tension, he did a good job of hiding it as he coolly completed his round in 11 under par.
“I’m pretty pleased,” Mr Brown, of Worksop Golf Club and who missed another eagle chance, told the club in understated fashion.
“It’s nice to finish my season with a 59. It’s such a great course and I enjoy coming back here every year.
“I knew I could manage to get that elusive 59 on the final hole and somehow managed to hold on.
“I was a bit nervous on the last, but we did it.”
