Baby loss charity seeks support with ‘angel gowns’ project

A LOCAL charity that helps those affected by the loss of a baby or child is looking for support with an upcoming project.

Finding Rainbows, based in Ashton-under-Lyne, runs various projects including ‘Upon Angel Wings’.

Led by volunteers, they create ‘angel gowns’ from repurposed wedding dresses for families following the loss of their little one.

The charity – which offers peer support, group support, counselling, holistic therapies, coffee mornings and more – will be having an open session on October 8 from 3pm to 6pm.

It’s looking for volunteers to help with creating the gowns and other items, as well as for funding or donations to keep the project running.

The project is run through public donations of wedding dresses, which are collected and washed by volunteers, before being taken apart and repurposed into angel gowns.

The gowns can then be added to packs that include items such as cardigans, blankets and a small teddy or heart.

Available free of charge to anyone in need, the gowns can then be distributed to families individually or given to hospitals and funeral directors.

Anyone who is able to support the project should get in touch with Finding Rainbows on 07340 799387 or email finding.rainbows@outlook.com
