Copley Academy’s GCSE cohort goes up in the world

PUPILS at Stalybridge’s Copley Academy are on the rise after achieving a ‘significant rise in attainment’ in their GCSE results.

Five per cent of those at the Huddersfield Road establishment earned the highest grade possible, nine, in their exams.

And with 30 per cent of students not having had a straightforward journey through secondary education, with many experiencing moves between schools or even across countries, the rise is even more appreciated.

A spokesperson for Copley Academy said: “Their success is a true testament to their resilience and determination.”

Among the top achievers are Tia Hadfield, Charlie Biard, Sadie Gooch, Taryn Kirkham and Franklin Ukpan, who secured the highest grades.

In addition, a number of students made exceptional progress during their time at Copley Academy, including Sarah Saidi, Nicole Greenough, Finlay Pinnock, Maisie Kelly, Nadine Longden, Christos Latoudis, Kian Sutherland and Ella Clegg.

Ruth Craven, principal at Copley Academy, said: “We are immensely proud of all the achievements of our students.

“They have shown resilience, adaptability, and a commitment to learning – skills and qualities that will serve them well in the future.

“Staff at Copley Academy have worked tirelessly to ensure every student has the opportunity to succeed and progress onto further study and education.

“We are excited to see what they go on to accomplish in the years ahead.”
