Dance coach to run 10k to support a mum’s fourth cancer battle

A STALYBRIDGE dance coach will be running her first 10k in support of a mum-of-three facing her fourth cancer battle in five years.

Becci Cunningham has become a keen runner in recent months and will be taking on the Altrincham 10k on September 7 for Kerry Nathaniel and her family.

“I hated running but decided to give it a go in March and, after doing a couple of 5k runs, thought I’d do this,” Becci told the Correspondent.

Becci is the head coach of competitive dance and cheer club Elements Extreme, based at The Cheer Lab in Ashton-under-Lyne, where she is a director.

Living in Droylsden, Kerry is mum to Jemima, Pippa and Elijah and wife to Paul.

Becci has got to know Jemima and the family for over five years through the cheer and dance world at Elements Extreme.

“Jemima has been a cheerleader for my club Elements Extreme and I want to do anything I can to make this uncertain time easier for them,” Becci said.

The funds raised will help ease daily pressures for Kerry’s family, covering travel, treats and extra support during her treatment.

“They are a truly special family who mean so much to our community,” Becci added. “Through it all, Kerry continues to show incredible strength, warmth and love, and has always been one of our biggest supporters from the sidelines.

“As Kerry focuses on her health and treatment, I want to rally some support to help ease the everyday pressures – things like travel, family treats, and a little breathing room for her and Paul during a time that’s already full.

“If you’re able to donate, share or simply send love their way, it would mean the world. Every penny raised will go directly to Kerry and her wonderful family, helping to lift them up in the way they’ve lifted so many of us. We’re all behind Kerry every step of the way.”

Becci has already received over £400 in donations and, if you are able to support her efforts, you can visit her GoFundMe page at https://www.gofundme.com/f/running-for-kerry-her-beautiful-family
