Ceremony marks milestone in Ashton apartments development

WORK to bring affordable apartments to the heart of Ashton-under-Lyne has been marked with a special stone setting ceremony.

Jigsaw Homes is leading the construction of the block of 35 – 33 one-bedroomed and two two-bedroomed – homes on the site of the former car park at Mill Lane and Stamford Street Central.

And the labours, expected to be completed in February, did not go unnoticed.

Jigsaw Homes is leading the construction of the block of 35 – 33 one-bedroomed and two two-bedroomed – homes on the site of the former car park at Mill Lane and Stamford Street Central.

For Katie Marshall, deputy chief executive and group director of development at Jigsaw Homes, John Greenwood and Mark Frain, chairman and project manager from J Greenwood Builders, Shane Furnival, project surveyor at Neo Projects and Rebecca Barwise, associate at JDA Architects, were on hand to mark it.

Katie Marshall said: “This is an exciting milestone for what will be a fantastic development delivering much-needed new homes in Ashton.

“We are proud to be working with our trusted partners to bring forward homes of excellent quality that will support the local community.

“Marking this stage in the build is a great way to recognise the progress made so far and the strong collaboration driving the scheme forward.”

Mark Frain added: “This milestone is a testament to the hard work and dedication of everyone involved in bringing this scheme forward.

“We’re pleased to be delivering much-needed affordable homes in Ashton and are especially grateful to be working once again with our trusted partners at Jigsaw Homes Group.

“Collaborating on another meaningful development like this reflects our shared commitment to creating high-quality, sustainable housing that meets real needs across the North West.”

This project forms part of Jigsaw Homes’ wider commitment, with two further schemes in Tameside.

And these new homes are being developed to achieve EPC A, including solar panels to help offset the cost of communal heating and electricity use.
