Ashton site manager wins prestigious national construction award

A SITE manager from Ashton-under-Lyne has been recognised for the quality of his work with a coveted national award.

Lee Lister, who works for Bellway, secured a Quality Award in the National House Building Council’s (NHBC) annual Pride in the Job competition.

Currently based at Bellway’s Narrowboat View development in Lymm, Lee is among an elite group in the industry – among only 450 winners selected from a pool of more than 8,000 site managers whose developments have been inspected by the NHBC over the past year.

Lee says he’s “over the moon” to have picked up the second award of his career with Bellway.

“It’s wonderful to have won my second Pride in the Job award,” he commented. “Narrowboat View is a fantastic site, and I have a fantastic team behind me. Bellway has been so supportive too.

“The Pride in the Job award means so much as it’s such a prestigious industry award. It is the first time my assistant site manager, Lee Roberston, has been involved and he is thrilled that his hard work and commitment has contributed to the win.”

The Pride in the Job awards involves a rigorous process including spot checks on the day-to-day running of a site. Each site manager is assessed across six key areas which are consistency, attention to detail, leadership, interpretation of drawings and specifications, technical expertise and health and safety.

Lee and the other Quality Award winners will go forward to the next stage of the competition – the NHBC’s Seal of Excellence and Regional Awards, which will be announced in the autumn.

Thomas Chadwick, Construction Director for Bellway Manchester, said: “As you can see from the number of sites that are judged nationally, winning this award is no mean feat. The NHBC Quality Award is recognition of a job very well done and is universally respected throughout the construction industry as a mark of distinction.

“Lee and his site team should be incredibly proud of this achievement. It is a real testament to their hard work, commitment and attention to detail not to mention the extremely high standards that we set for ourselves throughout the business.”

The Correspondent also reported recently that Steve Jackson, also from Ashton-under-Lyne, who works for Wiggett Homes, won a NHBC Quality Award.
