Ashton Town Team is a group of volunteers who actively promote the town centre and all of its independent businesses.

The awards were sponsored by nearby Bromleys Solicitors, who chose The Hidden Kitchen as the winner of their Sponsors Award.
Paul Westwell, Managing Director at Bromleys, said: “At a recent lunchtime meeting, where all our staff came together to talk about developments at the business, I asked them where the hidden gems in Ashton area, places where they may visit at lunchtime or after work.
“There was a majority vote for The Hidden Kitchen on the basis of all it has to offer, with the only downside being how often it runs out due to high demand!”

Mr Jeans Outlet won the Fashion/Footwear Award, Briggs Butchers claimed the Fresh Food prize and Everest Cafe came out on top in the Cafe/Takeaway category.
The Jewellers Award went to Grade A, The Hair Studio took the Hair & Beauty prize, and Gibsons Music Store won the Specialist Retail trophy.
Meanwhile, Sincerely Yours scooped the Floral, Cards & Gifts accolade and Suzy’s Sweet Memories were the winners in the Market Trader category.

Market Avenue business Cameron’s Tea Room was also the recipient of a Town Team award, chosen by its Chair – Councillor Bill Fairfoull.
Cllr Fairfoull, who represents the Ashton St Michael’s ward on Tameside Council, said: “I would like to thank everybody who has taken the time to vote in this year’s Ashton Independent Retail Awards.

“It’s been a tremendous success yet again and hopefully people are shopping local and giving the local economy a big boost. Finally, I wish to congratulate all our winners and, last but not least, thanks to Bromleys for being our sponsor.”
