A STALYBRIDGE company has remained at the top of its industry with yet another prestigious awards win.
Stepan, which has a base on Bridge Street, walked away with the Manufacturing and Resource Efficiency Award at the Chemical Industry Awards (CIA) .

A ceremony in Leeds on June 19 saw the firm – which manufactures surfactant, the primary ingredient in Europe’s favourite fabric softeners, in Tameside – secure its fifth triumph in recent years.
This prize is given to the company that, in the view of the judges, is best able to “demonstrate world-class manufacturing performance… and/or significant improvements to resource efficiency (raw materials, energy, water, utilities etc) within the manufacturing process.”
Stepan’s Stalybridge site has also become the organisation’s most improved in terms of reliability, by improving quality and reducing rework.
It has also cut unplanned downtime at the site by 85 per cent, through ensuring the maintenance team’s work is more planned and less reactive.
And this latest success is one for the community, according to Stepan’s site manager, George Forrest.

He said: “his is five wins out of five for Stepan Stalybridge now.
“For several years, we’ve been creating an organisation to be proud of. This award caps our journey to being the company’s most reliable site.
“That’s testament to the commitment, skill and hard work of everyone at the Stalybridge site, many of whom live in the surrounding area.
“This is a win we share with the whole Stalybridge community.”
