Café to close at Ashton’s 4C Community Centre

A POPULAR independent café in Ashton-under-Lyne is preparing to say a fond farewell this month, as Eclectic Avenue gets ready to serve its last brew from the 4C Community Centre.

Owner Jody announced the closure with a heartfelt message to customers, confirming that the café will finish trading on Saturday, July 26 after four years at the Taunton Road venue.

While the café may be closing, the 4C Centre itself, will remain fully open and continuing its work in the area.

In an emotional announcement on social media, Jody, the proprietor of Eclectic Avenue said:

“I have had a truly wonderful four years in this location and have loved every moment of our time here.

“I have been in this game long enough to know what a losing battle looks like and my energy is better used in retreat and reform than it is in fighting forces I have no control over. The time has come for me to move on and reassess what the future is going to look like.”

The decision to shut the café stems from financial challenges exacerbated by an unexpected spike in utility costs earlier this year.

Jody went on to say:  “As some of you will recall, we have previously had some struggles keeping up with our electric bill but just as we were beginning to make some headway it has jumped up again exponentially,”.
