CARNIVAL organisers face a four-figure bill after a portable toilet was stolen.
The facility was placed at the corner of Bayley Street and Bridge Street in Stalybridge.
But on the morning on Sunday, June 22 – the day of the town event – it was not where it was left!
That means the organising committee is likely to pay a bill of £1,200 to cover the cost of a replacement – or maybe cover that with an insurance claim.

Secretary Ian Cochrane said: “It was delivered on site on the Friday morning, along with other units, and was still there on the Saturday morning.
“However, when some of our committee members turned up at Bayley Street on the Sunday morning to start with parade set up, they noticed the portable toilet had been stolen.
“This incident did not deter the volunteers from soldiering on and help deliver a fantastic carnival but is really annoying that some individual(s) have total disregard to property.
“The perpetrators clearly saw the toilet unit and needed a vehicle with a tail gate to remove it.”
