STAFF and residents at a care home in Ashton-under-Lyne have met with their local MP and Deputy Prime Minister.
They shared their experiences and talked about what life is like at Daisy Nook House with Angela Rayner.
During the recent visit, the Labour MP – who is also the Housing, Communities and Local Government Secretary – had a guided tour of the 40-bed residential and dementia care home.

The home on Bamburgh Drive is owned by adult social care provider HC-One, whose Managing Director Rachael Junge, Executive Director of Commercial Jake Rollin and Home Manager Wayne Jones showed Ms Rayner around.
A delighted Wayne said: “Everyone had a great time chatting and discussing the key issues they care about and exploring how we can work together to overcome them.
“The visit highlighted the strong community links Daisy Nook House maintains and the importance of quality care services for older people across Ashton-under-Lyne.”
As part of the tour, Ms Rayner saw the home’s facilities – including the hair salon, comfortable lounges, quiet room, ensuite bedrooms, and landscaped gardens.
“It was fantastic to meet the staff at Daisy Nook House and hear how passionate they are about the wonderful work they do,” said the MP, whose constituency includes Ashton-under-Lyne, Droylsden and Dukinfield.
“I am grateful to them for taking the time to show me around the home. I was privileged enough to be able to catch a bit of the singer in the lounge.
“Her colourful dress and old-time classics proved to be such a treat for the residents. It was lovely to see.”
