A person has died following an incident on the rail lines near Hyde this morning.
British Transport Police (BTP) confirmed they were called to the scene at 6:16am (Thursday, June 5) after reports of a casualty on the tracks close to Hyde Central station.
Despite the efforts of emergency services, the individual was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident is now underway. No further details, including the identity of the person, have been released at this stage.
