Tameside primary school and girls’ football club contend for vital grants

A TAMESIDE primary school and girls’ football club may receive grants if they are successful in a public vote.

Silver Springs Primary Academy, on School Crescent at Ridge Hill, and Stalybridge Celtic Juniors Girls are among nine from the Greater Manchester area to be put forward for the award from the PatchApp Community Fund.

The former would put money towards its eco-friendly kitchen gardening project, buying tools and plants.

The latter would use an award towards kit and equipment as well as a four-day tournament in Holland for its under-14 side.

Almost 100 organisations applied, with 15 being put forward to a public vote, which will see the top five selected to receive a grant.

PatchApp is a start-up home maintenance tech company operating across the North West and Yorkshire.

Paul White and Conor Walsh

The fledgling company makes it easier to find, book and manage your window cleaning and will shortly add a host of other home services to its portfolio.

The services are carried out by former members of the Armed Forces, who PatchApp are working with to ensure they have good, stable careers when they leave the Armed Forces.

The business was Founded in 2022 by Paul White, one of the Founders of the Modern Milkman and Innovate UK Young Innovator of the Year, Conor Walsh.

Paul said: “We’re really committed to leaving the world in a better place than we found it, and that’s what drives a lot of what we do.

“We wanted to reach right into the heart of the communities we serve and we thought that our Local Community Fund was the best way to do this.”

Conor added: “The number of applications has been staggering and it’s been fantastic to see the wonderful work that is going on across the region.

“It’s really heartening to see that there are so many people who care about their local communities.

“It’s great to see so many finalists from Greater Manchester, which really reflects the great sense of community here.”

The public vote closes at midnight on Thursday, June 5. Anyone can vote on the Community Fund page at www.patchapp.uk.
