He was nominated to attend a Department for Education garden party at Buckingham Palace by Holex – a national network of over 140 community learning providers – in recognition of his services to education.

“I feel truly humbled and honoured to have been invited to the King’s Education Garden Party,” Andrew said.

“Meeting so many others who have contributed to student success, all over the country, was incredible and the day was really something else. I am extremely grateful for this special opportunity.”

Andrew’s invite to the event

Andrew attended on Wednesday, May 14, with the college’s principal and CEO Jackie Moores, and assistant principal Lorna Fegan.

The guests had the opportunity to meet King Charles and Queen Camilla to discuss their work in the community education sector, and meet other guests who had travelled the length and breadth of the country to be in the capital.

“It was a real privilege to stand beside someone whose dedication, integrity and impact have been formally recognised at the highest level,” said Lorna.

“It was fantastic to pause, celebrate and reflect on the power of service and the importance of recognising those who quietly go above and beyond every day. Congratulations to Andrew on his amazing award.”
