Support available for Tameside businesses to apply for prestigious award

BUSINESSES across Tameside are being urged to apply for the UK’s top business award.

The King’s Awards for Enterprise 2026 celebrates the remarkable achievement of businesses.

GM Business Growth Hub – an organisation which supports businesses – is hoping to increase the number of local organisations that win the highest official accolades for businesses in the country.

“Tameside and Greater Manchester have some of the most exciting businesses in the nation, and they deserve that recognition,” said Janine Smith, Director of GM Business Growth Hub.

“The importance of winning a King’s award cannot be overstated, but that shouldn’t put businesses off applying. It can seem daunting, which is why we’re doing everything we can to encourage more applications for 2026.”

The awards recognise British businesses and other organisations that excel at international trade, innovation, sustainable development or promoting opportunity.

GM Business Growth Hub is offering support to help businesses succeed in their applications, which are now open until September 9 at 1pm.

The first is a panel event on Friday, May 16, led by Greater Manchester Deputy Lieutenant Dr Vikas Shah MBE.

Previous winner – Susanna Lawson

Dr Shah MBE will be joined by previous winners, who will discuss the benefits of winning a King’s Award, as well as taking attendees through the application process and sharing their experience of writing an award-winning nomination.

Businesses can visit the GM Business Growth Hub website to find support for applying or to register for the event on May 16.
