Police appeal for information as woman dies following Stalybridge cyclist collision

A WOMAN has died after a cyclist taking part in an event collided with her on a major Stalybridge road.

The bike was being ridden by a man along Mottram Road at about noon on Sunday, May 4.

It is believed he has gone to overtake another cyclist moving more slowly but as it has done so, he collided with the 80-year-old pedestrian.

The woman received serious injuries and died in hospital on Wednesday, May 7.

The incident took place on Mottram Road, Stalybridge

Now Greater Manchester Police is appealing for information about the incident.

The cyclist, who received minor injuries, remained at the scene and no arrests have yet been made.

But as officers continue their investigation, they are asking for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has any information to please come forward.

They are particularly keen on other cyclists who may have witnessed the incident or have footage to come forward.

This also includes anyone with dashcam, CCTV, mobile, or doorbell footage from the wider area.
