A LOCAL community interest company which provides digital support to those who need it is celebrating a milestone.
Tameside Community Computers CIC launched in August 2022, born on the back of the community work carried out by ZenTec Network Solutions during the Covid pandemic.
During that challenging time, the directors of the Dukinfield-based IT support company identified the need to utilise their skills to help those who found themselves in ‘digital poverty’ when forced to stay at home for work and school.

The organisation refurbishes laptops, desktop computers, tablets and mobile phones that have been donated and distributes them for free to those most in need in the local community.
The impact of its work is far reaching as it has now passed the 5,000 mark for the number of devices donated to children and young people.
Tameside Community Computers CIC said in a statement: “This incredible achievement wouldn’t have been possible without the support from some of our amazing corporate partners Bupa UK, Targus, TCL Mobile, The Woodland Trust, Career Connect and Aptus Utilities.
“We also want to extend a special and heartfelt thank you to our funders: Oldham Council, Tameside Council, Greater Manchester Combined Authority, Action Together, The Casey Group, Recycle for Greater Manchester, SUEZ UK, and Good Things Foundation. Their unwavering support has been pivotal in making this milestone a reality.
“To everyone who has donated, volunteered or supported us along the way, thank you. Every single device represents a brighter future and an opportunity for those in digital poverty to connect, learn and thrive.
“Let’s keep striving for more change together. Here’s to reaching new heights and continuing to make an impact!”
