Vault 2 Bar in Denton proposes rooftop terrace

A DENTON bar hopes to add a rooftop terrace to a landmark building as it looks to attract people to the town.

Aaron Schofield, of Vault 2 Bar and Bistro, has applied to Tameside Council to add to what was the Royal Bank of Scotland branch at Crown Point.

And he believes the addition, the second such area proposed in Denton after permission was granted for a conversion at nearby Civic Square was approved, would add to the area.

According to planning papers, an ‘open plan wood fired pizza oven’ would be installed if permission is granted.

And they state: “Proposed development is to convert the roof on our building into an open top bar Italian bar with glass surround balustrades and a roof canopy.

“We will create a classy in keeping look to the local area, which will not be overlooking residents.

“Each pane of glass will be etched to keep privacy but give a classy feel to the bar.

“We are wanting to improve and expand on the local area and we feel that by creating a roof top bar will draw a lot of attention to the local area than people having to travel to Manchester, which then will create more jobs to the local area and bring more revenue locally.”

Tameside Council’s Speaker’s Panel (Planning) committee will decide whether to grant or refuse permission.
