A NEW community crowdfunding event is launching in Hyde to support good causes.
The inaugural Hyde SOUP will kick off at Hyde United Football Club on Tuesday, April 22.
It takes place from 6.30pm to 9.30pm inside the Project Solar Stadium, off Walker Lane.
The introduction of the fun and informal event, which brings the community together over a simple meal, comes after the success of a similar initiative in Mossley.
Attendees will enjoy a bowl of soup, listen to four local groups pitch their projects in a four-minute slot each, and then vote for the cause they feel deserves the funding raised on the night. The three runners-up will each receive £100.
The first event will be hosted by Tom Armstrong, a Director at Hyde United FC and Managing Director at Project Solar UK.
Alexe Griffiths, owner of Griff’s on the Green in Gee Cross, has volunteered to provide and serve the soup free of charge.
Tickets are available on the door for a small donation of £5 (cash is preferred), and you can reserve a spot in advance via Eventbrite at https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/hyde-soup-tickets-1290201600719
There will also be a raffle on the night, featuring prizes donated by local businesses and organisations.
