AN ASHTON-UNDER-LYNE café which closed because of a lack of volunteers is reopening.
News that Georgie Porgie’s, at King George V Playing Fields on Alexandra Road, had to shut was greeted with sadness.
But the doors will be thrown open once again on Easter weekend – Saturday, April 19 and Sunday, April 20.
People will be able to call in for a brew, a burger, sweets or ice cream as they enjoy the great green space between 1pm and 4pm.
The Friends of King George V Playing Fields (FoKGVPF) group is still on the lookout for more volunteers to help run the café or join one of its teams.
Its horticulture team looks after the orchard, trees and flowers, its bee team helps make King Georgie’s honey and its rubbish pool team collects litter and plays pool on the second Tuesday of every month at 7pm.
FoKGVPF’s stage team manages an outdoor stage that can be used by local bands, dancing or theatre groups to advertise your group and raise money for your group.
