TWO local brothers are on the hunt for people to share their personal experiences of past nightlife in Ashton-under-Lyne.
Philip and David Williams, who are well-known for their love of their hometown, plan to compile the contributions into a new book.
The siblings have been writing together since their teens and early 20s respectively and have penned a host of popular books about local history, cinema and the world of entertainment.

Last summer, we reported that they released their latest book about the extraordinary life and career of Lancashire comedian Frank Randle.
However, due to medical reasons, Philip and David say their ability to travel for book research and writing has been limited.
“We have successfully published ‘Flickering Memories’, ‘For Your Delectation and Delight’, and ‘Boo & Hiss’ as part of the ‘Entertaining Ashton’ series,” they explained.
“Our original plan was to conclude the series with a book dedicated to Ashton’s nightlife, exploring dance halls, clubs, discos and working men’s clubs.
“Instead of abandoning this project, we have decided to invite contributions from individuals willing to share their personal experiences of past Ashton nightlife, which we can compile into a book.
“We are seeking heartfelt essays or short pieces that go beyond mere listings of venues – we are interested in stories that truly capture the essence of those nights out. We welcome writers of all ages to contribute memories from the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and beyond.”
Anyone who would like to submit contributions can do so by emailing hoydpublishing@yahoo.co.uk
