Appeal for information after man dies following collision in Tameside

POLICE are appealing for information following the death of a man after a collision on the M60 in Tameside on Tuesday, February 11.

At approximately 10:25am, two vehicles were waiting at traffic lights on the clockwise exit slip at Junction 24 (Denton Island).

A third vehicle continued down the slip road towards the roundabout and collided with the rear of one of the stationary cars, which was then pushed into the vehicle in front.

All vehicles involved stopped at the scene, and no arrests have been made in connection with the incident.

A couple of weeks after the collision, on Thursday, February 27, the driver of the vehicle that initially crashed—a 55-year-old man—was found deceased at his home.

Officers from Greater Manchester Police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision and whether it may have contributed to the man’s death.

Anyone with information that could assist the investigation is urged to contact police via 101 or by using the Live Chat service on the GMP website (gmp.police.uk), quoting motorway log number IML 2024957.

Alternatively, information can be given anonymously by contacting the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
