A FORMER bingo hall in Hyde has been earmarked for emergency demolition following a fire.

Now, Tameside Building Control has declared the structure dangerous, necessitating immediate demolition under Section 78 of the Building Act 1984.

Contractors have commenced demolition works with the process expected to last several days.

Hyde Bus Station and the adjacent taxi rank will remain closed for the duration of the works, as will the public footbridge over the M67.

Additionally, as a precautionary measure, the inside lane of the westbound carriageway of the M67 adjacent to the site will also be closed.
