THERE’S an opportunity to begin your own art adventure during the half-term holidays in Hyde.
A special event is taking place this Saturday, February 22, to celebrate all things art in the town.
There will be activities in Hyde Library and throughout the town centre from 10am to 3pm.
A new school of art called ‘The Rutherford Rabble’ will be sketching everything and everyone they see throughout the day and The Royal Exchange Theatre will be facilitating an activity from the indoor market.
The Rutherford Rabble have organised an art trail which is happening all week until Sunday, February 23 – inspired by the life and work of Tameside artist Harry Rutherford.
People are encouraged to pick up a pencil and sketchbook from Hyde Library, follow the map and search through the participating shops to discover works of art created by children from local schools.
Along the way, the Rutherford Rabble will challenge participants to complete a series of mini drawing activities in their sketchbook. Once all have been completed, you can head back to Hyde Library to show your work to staff to claim a sticker.
The venues taking part in the trail are: Hyde Library; Boots; Pound Stretcher; Cancer Research UK; Free Books in the Arcade; Healthy Hyde Back of Arcade; the Indoor Market (both ground and upper floors); The Little Sweet Lady; The Living Room, and AOA Cafe and Street Food.
