ADDRESSING inequalities in Tameside was the focus of a workshop which brought together local community groups and organisations.
Councillor Taf Sharif, Tameside Council’s Lead for Population Health and Equalities, led the workshop at Dukinfield Town Hall.
The Mossley ward councillor is looking to refresh the Inequalities Reference Group which was first set up in 2020.

“I am deeply committed to working together to celebrate diversity and reduce inequality in Tameside,” she said.
“It was inspiring to see so many thoughtful suggestions and an atmosphere of collaboration throughout the session.
“The energy in the room was incredible, and it was an invaluable opportunity to unite our efforts and set the stage for meaningful change. It left us more determined than ever to make a lasting impact.”
The event last week saw community groups, elected officials, public services and policymakers join forces to discuss a “refreshed approach” to tackling inequalities within the borough.
It focused on defining key objectives, structures and timelines.
The council said the workshop “marks an important step forward” in a shared commitment to a “fairer, more equitable future for all in Tameside”.
