DENTON South councillors have announced a public meeting to discuss community issues, including plans regarding the former Masons Arms pub at Three Lane End.
The meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 21, at St Mary’s Church on Meadow Lane from 7:00pm to 8:30pm.
Residents are encouraged to attend to hear updates, raise concerns and participate in a Q&A session with Denton South Councillors George Newton, Claire Reid, and Jack Naylor, as well as representatives from Greater Manchester Police.
The Masons Arms site has been a source of concern for local residents.
Councillors revealed that changes to the former pub – including its conversion into a hot food takeaway, barbers, and convenience store – were made before a planning application was submitted.
Other modifications include the installation of steps at the front, illuminated signage and a disabled access ramp at the side of the building.
Following an investigation, the Council has determined that a retrospective planning application must be submitted for the changes to be formally reviewed and for residents to have their say.
If the application is refused, the property must revert to its original use.
Denton South’s ward councillors said:
“Many residents have reached out to us about the changes to the Masons Arms, and we’re committed to ensuring their voices are heard. This public meeting is an opportunity for open dialogue about this issue and other concerns affecting Denton South.”
The meeting will also include updates from Greater Manchester Police, addressing local crime and safety concerns.
