Santa sleighs brings fundraising success across Tameside

THE FESTIVE spirit was alive and well as the Rotary Club’s annual Santa sleigh tours raised a staggering five-figure sum for local causes, far exceeding expectations.

Branches in Dukinfield and Stalybridge, Tameside, Denton/Audenshaw, and Hyde toured their communities with their Santa sleighs. Despite sometimes braving adverse weather conditions, parents and children turned out in droves, contributing generously.

The fundraising effort brought in an impressive total of nearly £20,000. The Dukinfield and Stalybridge branch alone raised over £8,100—an increase of £1,000 compared to 2023.

Club members expressed their delight, with funds to be used to support various community groups and ensure the continuation of the popular Santa sleigh tradition in the coming year.

Similarly, the Tameside branch raised £8,000. These funds will be allocated to deserving causes by its disbursement committee, which carefully reviews donation applications. Final totals from the Hyde and Denton/Audenshaw clubs are still being confirmed.

Rotary International, the parent organisation of these local branches, is a global network committed to improving lives through service projects and initiatives. With over 1.4 million members in more than 46,000 clubs worldwide, Rotary focuses on tackling pressing issues such as education, health, water sanitation, and community development.
