A TAMESIDE school has showed all its skills as its culture was put on full display.
Droylsden’s Fairfield High came alive with colour, music and celebration during its highly anticipated Heritage Day on Friday, December 13.
On the day, the corridors were filled with pupils and staff dressed in a stunning array of traditional clothing, cultural colours and outfits that reflected their personal and cultural identities.
The school hall became a hub of excitement during lunchtime, hosting a lively fashion show where pupils proudly showcased clothing, including a mesmerising Chinese dance performance that captivated everyone in attendance.
In the library, pupils gathered for enchanting folk tale readings and heritage-themed literacy puzzles, sparking curiosity and discussion about global traditions and their significance.
The school restaurant also embraced the spirit of the day with a special international menu, serving dishes from Italy, Spain, Mexico, and India.
And in every classroom, lessons began with an engaging five-minute cultural activity.
Pupils were challenged to guess countries from picture clues and practice greetings in various languages.
These activities were brought to life with audio recordings created by the EAL (English as an Additional Language) Ambassadors.
Throughout the week, the school’s EAL Ambassadors had delivered insightful assemblies.
Head of School Fee Lealman, reflected on the event, saying: “Heritage Day was a true reflection of our values as a school.
“It was wonderful to see our pupils and staff embracing and celebrating their cultures, stirring curiosity and learning from one another, while strengthening our ethos of respect and inclusivity.
“This year’s event has been another huge success. It was an exceptional day.”
