Winter clothes appeal wrapped in generosity

THE borough has rallied round in true community spirit to help Tameside families stay warm this winter.

The recent cold snap has only served as a reminder of the importance of initiatives such as ‘Wrap Up Tameside’ – led by Dukinfield and Stalybridge Rotary Club.

The kind-hearted Rotarians have once again been collecting winter coats, fleeces, scarves, winter hats and gloves so that charities can distribute them to those struggling to keep warm in the challenging winter months.

The club says it has had “a great response” to its appeal – which is part of the wider Wrap Up UK initiative.

More than 400 coats have been dropped off by the public at the designated points of The Together Centre in Dukinfield, Reach Church in Millbrook, St George’s Church in Stalybridge, Stalybridge Celtic Junior Football Club, and Stalyhill Junior School.

All of the donated coats have now been distributed locally to the Tameside Women’s Centre, Infinity Initiatives, and End Results Community Group.

A spokesperson for Dukinfield and Stalybridge Rotary Club said: “Thank you to everyone who has donated coats to our campaign – your contribution does make a difference to support local residents who struggle to keep warm during the winter months.

“Another example of Dukinfield and Stalybridge Rotary Club helping to make a positive difference in our community.”
