AN INSPIRING event to promote cohesion, celebrating and building stronger communities, brought together groups and leaders from across Tameside.
The gathering, at Dukinfield Town Hall, was organised by Tameside Council Lead Member for Health and Equalities Cllr Tafheen Sharif, working alongside Khush Amdid and West African Development community groups and was open to all residents and communities across the borough.
Keynote speakers including Greater Manchester Police and Tameside Council provided presentations delivering messages about what can be done locally to celebrate diversity and tackle hate crime.
Tameside Council Executive Leader Cllr Eleanor Wills, Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner, Member of Parliament Andrew Gwynne and Faith and Communities Minister Lord Wajid Khan also attended to express the importance of a united borough.
Thoughts and experiences were shared to help grow understandings and appreciations for one another.
Tameside Council Executive Leader Cllr Eleanor Wills said: “It was excellent to see a great turn out for such a meaningful event to help us build resilience as a community.
“In Tameside, we have such a diverse tapestry, and the event was a great opportunity to celebrate and support this.
