A STALYBRIDGE sports club has launched a fundraising campaign to repair and improve facilities damaged in a tornado.
Stayley Cricket Club in Millbrook aims at revitalising its training facilities with a new, modern practice net.
Existing nets have fallen into disrepair, rendering them unusable and limiting valuable practice time for players of all ages.
The project includes constructing two fully enclosed, all-weather practice nets, along with a versatile multi-use pitch.
These new facilities will be secured and accessible only when club coaches are present, reducing the chance of damage and ensuring a safe, supervised training environment.
The enhanced practice area is expected to become an essential part of Stayley Cricket Club, encouraging both new and returning players to participate, with a special emphasis on youth development and the club’s growing ladies’ team.
The project has already received significant support from Sport England in the form of a match-funded grant of £15,000. However, Stayley Cricket Club must raise an additional £15,000 within the next 12 weeks to secure the funding, bringing the total goal to £30,000.
The club has set up a Crowdfunder page and is actively engaging the community to reach its target. In addition to online fundraising, the club is participating in a variety of community events to boost awareness and raise funds.
Recently, club members held a community litter pick in Millbrook on Sunday, November 3, to demonstrate their commitment to the local area and attract additional support.
Stayley Cricket Club is appealing to the wider to help secure the future of the club. Contributions will go directly toward establishing a top-notch training facility that will serve players today and generations to come.
