A LOCAL Rotary club is calling on the community’s support to help Tameside families stay warm this winter as temperatures begin to drop.
Dukinfield and Stalybridge Rotary Club is once again running its ‘Wrap Up Tameside’ campaign, as part of the wider Wrap Up UK initiative.
They are collecting winter coats, fleeces, scarves, winter hats and gloves so that charities can distribute them to those struggling across the country to stay warm in the challenging winter months.
All of the items donated locally will be given to Tameside Women’s Centre, Infinity Initiatives and local homeless projects.
Anyone can drop off donations at collection boxes located in:
The Together Centre, Birch Lane, Dukinfield
St George’s Church, Church Walk, Stalybridge
Reach Church, Huddersfield Road, Stalybridge
Stalybridge Junior Football Club, Mossley Road, Ashton-under-Lyne
Stalyhill Junior School, Hereford Way, Stalybridge
Last year, the Rotary club dropped off over 200 winter coats at the Tameside Women’s Centre and provided a further 200 coats and fleeces for local homeless projects, distributed to individuals and families who were in desperate need of them.
Mike Weir, the president of Dukinfield and Stalybridge Rotary Club, said: “This is another example of Dukinfield and Stalybridge Rotary Club engaging with the local community, whilst making a positive impact on the lives of people in our neighbourhoods.
“As residents continue to struggle with the cost of living crisis, we are very keen to offer support to local families struggling to keep warm in their homes.”
