JON Macken is the man Stalybridge Celtic have chosen to hopefully lead them to promotion.
The former Manchester City striker has replaced sacked James Kinsey in charge at Bower Fold.
Macken, 47, most recently enjoyed two successful seasons at Witton Albion and also achieved promotion from the Northern Premier League West Division with Radcliffe.
He is a familiar face after his playing career saw him make more than 450 appearances across all four professional divisions, from the Premier League to League Two.

He will be known by many City fans for a stint following a £5 million move from Preston North End in 2002 and quickly becoming part of a side that secured promotion back to the top flight.
Macken also scored in the 4-1 win over Manchester United in March 2004 – the first derby played at the Etihad Stadium – before joining Crystal Palace,
And the aim is simple – get us back into the Northern Premier League Premier Division.
Owners Nigel Jones and Paul Bowden went for Macken as Stalybridge stand fourth in the West, seven points behind leaders Vauxhall Motors.
He will be joined by long-time assistant Steve Atkinson and will watch from the stands as Celtic face Clitheroe on Tuesday, October 22 but he will be in charge for trips to Wythenshawe and Congleton Town.
Interim management team Liam Tongue, Greg Wilkinson, Aaron Chalmers, Phil Marsh and Phil Jackson will oversee the first game before handing over.
The hope is the 5-2 thumping at Bootle on Saturday, October 19 rapidly becomes a distant memory.

And the new man in charge believes he can lead them to bigger and better things.
Macken said: “I’m honoured and over the moon to be asked to lead this fantastic club.
“It’s a huge club in a fantastic environment and I’m really looking forward to helping to take us forward.
“You see what it entails and what it’s about and its history, it’s an attraction to any manager and player and for me personally, it’s a great honour to be here and to be given the opportunity.
“The ambition really matches my own. I want to build on what’s already started here and get the club into the division that we believe it should be in.”
Several candidates applied for the job at Stalybridge after it became vacant, but Macken stood out above the rest.
Chairman Nigel Jones said: “We’re delighted to have secured the services of Jon. We felt it was a great fit for both sides and he shares our ambition to progress.
“We went through a very intense process, with some great candidates. We whittled it down to five strong people.
“They all had good qualities, but Jon stood out with his experience and proven success at our level as well as his experience of playing at the top level key.
“Jon’s professionalism, adaptability and way in which he gets the most out of players were big plus points and we think he’ll be able to come in and hit the ground running.
“We took lots of feedback from different people into account as well as discussing the decision with our interim management team who have all been tremendously supportive with the process.
“I’d like to say a big thank you to Liam, Greg, Aaron, Phil Marsh and Phil Jackson for the job they have done at a crucial time for the club.
“Their dedication and commitment has been immense.”
