Morrisons security guard ‘attacked by shoplifters’

A SECURITY guard at a Morrisons supermarket in Tameside was attacked as he tried to apprehend a pair of shoplifters.

The alleged attack happened at the Saxon Street store in Denton.

Police have issued an appeal for information following the incident, at around 6.30pm on June 11 this year.

Officers said the security guard sustained serious injuries as he attempted to stop the shoplifters from leaving the store with stolen items.

No arrests have yet been made, according to GMP’s Tameside team, as their investigation continues. The public are asked to help identify two males in CCTV footage as they may be able to assist with enquiries.
