A WATER-THEMED day of family fun ensured a Mossley arts centre made a big splash on its third birthday.
There was plenty happening from early in the morning at The Vale as people soaked up the atmosphere.
Washing away the stresses of the week on Saturday, September 7, was a soundsational gong bath.
The steady stream of families entering the Micklehurst Road venue were treated to free fun interactive sessions throughout the day – including arts and crafts, storytelling, music and dance.
A beginners’ drumming workshop shared Afro-Brazilian rhythms inspired by the purity of water, while younger children were encouraged to find their sea legs as they learned to dance like a pirate to sea shanties.
Keen crafters tried their hands at making a water carrying vessel on a potter’s wheel and fashioned their own river goddess inspired headdresses.
There was a popular seed and plant swap in The Vale’s Our Space community garden, and visitors learned about the arts centre’s ambitious plan to harness hydroelectric power via a homemade micro hydro generator, situated in a culvert next to the building.
Meanwhile, international, eclectic and joyful beats dominate the autumn season of The Vale’s live music offering. See what’s in store here.
