Young man seriously injured in Hyde hit-and-run

POLICE are investigating after a young man sustained serious injuries in a hit-and-run in Hyde. 

Greater Manchester Police found the man in his 20s at around 11.30pm on Sunday, August 4 on Lumn Road – which was cordoned off between the junctions with Ridling Lane and Walker Lane.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing a group of men wearing balaclavas and carrying shovels in the street. The victim was driven at, before they made off from the scene.

He remains in hospital for treatment, as detectives appeal for the public’s help to catch those responsible.

A statement from the force issued on Tuesday, August 6, said: “Officers were called at 11.30pm on Sunday, August 4, 2024 to reports of an injured male on Lumn Road in Hyde, Tameside.

“We attended the address and found a man in his 20s in the road with serious injuries. He was taken to hospital for treatment, where he remains.

“The victim was driven at while on the street and officers received reports of males wearing balaclavas with shovels in the street.

“Detectives are now appealing for witnesses who may have seen the incident to come forward.”
