Tameside theatre links up with local school

A TAMESIDE theatre has linked up with a local primary school to help introduce children to arts within their community.

Guide Bridge Theatre played host to two vibrant performances by Year Five and Six pupils from St Stephen’s CE Primary in Audenshaw at the end of the academic year.

It provided the youngsters with a professional platform, including lighting and sound, to showcase their talents.

The school’s headteacher has expressed his gratitude for the theatre’s support.

“We are so lucky to have wonderful neighbours at St Stephen’s and one of these is the theatre,” said Guy Lovgreen.

“The idea of a link came from one of our parents during a discussion about how the school could grow in new areas.

“I was surprised that we hadn’t recently supported the theatre but, after a couple of conversations, we are looking at ways to work together more.

“It is a fantastic and well-run facility and the staff and volunteers could not have done more for the children in their end of year performance!”

Plans are already in the pipeline for further collaboration between the school and the theatre, with the partnership between them expected to grow in the coming years.
