IN a homecoming celebration, local theatres are joining forces to bring Tameside a double bill of theatrical excellence.
Following a successful stint at last year’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Guide Bridge Theatre welcomes back two acclaimed productions that have resonated with audiences far and wide.
Overlooked by Jane Martin takes centre stage first, telling the poignant tale of Jack, a homeless man navigating life on the streets and Audrey, a woman facing the challenges of mobility impairment.
Their unlikely connection over a shared passion for crime fiction challenges societal norms and prejudices, asking whether understanding and friendship can transcend stark differences.
Violets and Vinegar, originally penned by David Lodge and adapted for a modern audience by Marple-based Carver Theatre, follows with its character comedy. Set in a neglected household, three distinct women—a housewife yearning for more, a party-loving soul, and an unwitting teacher—share tales of their romantic adventures, promising laughter and introspection in equal measure.
Last summer, both productions found themselves sharing the Edinburgh stage, that has now culminated in this unique double bill.
The matinee performance kicks off at 2pm at Guide Bridge Theatre and 7:30pm performance at Carver Theatre, Marple. Tickets are priced £11.
