A GROUP of talented young swimmers from Tameside have been making a splash at Manchester Aquatics Centre.
Ashton-under-Lyne Swimming Club is celebrating after completing a historic double.
The club beat Wilmslow, Romiley, Marple and Hyde to win the Intertown Celebration Gala for the second successive year and also scooped the Handicap Trophy.
The success comes on the back of being joint champions of the Intertown Friendly League for the second year in a row, as well as securing both the Juniors Winners Shield and Seniors Winners Shield.
A spokesperson for the club said: “A brilliant finale to an excellent season – well done to all 81 swimmers who represented the club during the season.”
Founded in 1895, the club describes itself as “a fun and family orientated swimming club” which is now based at Active Hyde following the closure of Active Ashton last September.
