A MAN has been charged with rape and sexual assault after an early morning incident in Hyde.
Brandon Smith, of Larch Road in Denton, will appear in court on Thursday, July 11 following an investigation into reports made on Friday, July 5.
The 24-year-old will face Tameside Magistrates after being remanded in custody following the levelling of two charges of rape and three of sexual assault.
Detective Inspector Christopher Dean, from Greater Manchester Police’s Tameside district, said: “All reports of incidents such as this are taken with the utmost seriousness by officers and I hope this charge demonstrates the urgency with which we’ve worked to secure an outcome.
“I would like to thank members of the public for their support and the victim for her bravery as we continue to support her throughout this investigation.”
