Watch as demolition work gets underway at Stamford Park Conservatory

DEMOLITION work is underway on the conservatory at Stamford Park, which has been at the centre of a public campaign to save it.

The structure, first built in 1907 and gifted by John Nield, has been the focus of attempts to see it remain.

But after being closed for nine years, work to take it down is beginning after planning permission was granted in 2019.

  2. Council lying to us all trying to save the building. Shameful! The swimming baths in Ashton gone, market an absolute shambles and now this. Tameside is a shadow of what it used to be.

  6. What’s next,Town Hall?Tameside Theatre?What on earth is going on? The outdoor market was wrecked. Its as if there is a plan to destroy Ashton under Lyne !!!
