A SPECIALIST college described as ‘a beacon of alternative education’ is proving that learning does not always come from textbooks.
Works4U, based in the heart of the Ridge Hill area of Stalybridge, offers what is described as ‘a transformative journey for learners aged 14-24.’
May has seen a whirlwind of activity within and beyond its walls. From bustling Raglands Farm to its dynamic dog grooming salon and the vibrant hum of a construction workshop, learners have been immersed in hands-on experiences that ignite their passion for learning.
And in showing that a commitment to holistic education extends far beyond the classroom. It engages in projects and initiatives that enrich the lives of learners and those around us, including the Community Peacock Café at the college site on Ambleside.
Venturing beyond traditional boundaries, learners embarked on a diverse array of excursions and experiences.
From exploring the Amazon Manchester Fulfilment Centre to delving into the intricacies of justice and crime at local courts, each outing has been a learning adventure.
Works4U students also experienced the world of water safety alongside the family of Dylan Ramsay, spreading awareness and fostering a culture of responsibility.
Cycling tracks, community gardening projects and culinary endeavours to support the homeless are just a glimpse into the multifaceted learning experiences they engage in.
A spokesperson for Works4U said: “As a specialist education college with SPI status, we pride ourselves on providing personalised support to nurture academic prowess, social aptitude, and independent living skills.
“At Works4U, we recognise that every learner’s path is unique. With the right guidance and tailored support, we believe that everyone can flourish and reach their full potential.
“We shatter the notion that learning is confined to textbooks and classrooms. We believe that learning should be an immersive, enriching journey – one that sparks curiosity, fosters creativity, and cultivates a lifelong love for knowledge.
“As we reflect on the vibrant tapestry of experiences woven this month, one thing is abundantly clear – at Works4U learning is not only educational but also exhilarating, proving that indeed, learning can be fun.”
