STALYBRIDGE has become a new hub for outdoor enthusiasts with the installation of an information board and a bike maintenance station.
These additions, located in Armentieres Square are set to enhance the experience for users of the popular Tame Valley Loop (TVL), a route that has already attracted more than 3,000 riders since its launch in 2022.
The Tame Valley Loop is a versatile network of trails that caters to cyclists, horse riders, and walkers of all skill levels. Comprising three distinct routes—family (3.5 miles), intermediate (10 miles), and advanced (18 miles)—the TVL primarily follows off-road tracks and connects various existing paths, offering a scenic and adventurous journey through the Tameside and Saddleworth area.
Cyclists will now have the convenience of a new bike maintenance station in the town centre, equipped with tools and pumps for essential bike repairs and maintenance. The information board provides detailed maps, route descriptions, and safety guidelines, ensuring that all users are well-informed before setting out on their adventures.
The TVL is designed for all users, whether you’re cycling with stabilisers, enjoying a leisurely hike, riding a horse, or tackling challenging mountain bike trails. The route runs in an anti-clockwise direction, and safety gear is strongly recommended for all participants to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.

I would love to use the tame valley loop but I always come to a locked gate or style that is impassable on my disability trike even where there are pictures of wheelchairs it’s inaccessible to me the routes need to be tested properly for use by disabled people it seems the only part that is inclusive is the sign with the wheelchair on because the route is not passable for wheelchair users
