A FIVE-YEAR-OLD boy has suffered ‘life-threatening injuries’ in a serious road traffic collision on a Tameside motorway.
The child was rushed to hospital following the incident involving a Vauxhall Astra and an HGV on the M67 eastbound between junction three for Hyde and four at Hattersley on Monday, April 29.
A 38-year-old woman, who was also in the car, suffered injuries described as ‘not life-threatening’ at about 2.45pm.
But Greater Manchester Police said: “The child’s are described as life-threatening.”
A 39-year-old man – the driver of the HGV – was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving.
However, the force adds, ‘investigations are ongoing at this stage’ and it has issued a call for information.
It said: “Our Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) is appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.
“It is also keen to speak to anyone who may have any footage, including dashcam or mobile phone footage, from the area in the moments leading up to the collision.
