Youngsters dance their way to championship glory

A TALENTED bunch of young dancers from Tameside are on cloud nine after strutting their stuff all the way to becoming British champions.

The group from Latin Steps Dance Company in Ashton-under-Lyne went up against 10 other teams – most of which were from Wales – at the British Open Championships in Blackpool.

They emerged from the recent competition at the Winter Gardens as Under 10 British champions.

In total, 16 children took part and the theme this year was ‘Carnival’.

They were guided by dance teachers Aimee Bailey – who owns the dance school on Berkeley Street – and Sara Mcgroarty, who used to dance herself and now supports Aimee.

In a statement, Amy said: “Words cannot describe how it feels to become champions at the prestigious British Open Championships in Blackpool!

“As a school, we have worked towards this goal for 10 years! Our dreams came true!

“Sixteen Under-10 dancers have worked so very hard for this winning moment and this memory will last a lifetime.

“Charlie, Milana, Pippa, Ted, Jess, Esme, Dollie, Heidi, Eliana, Penny, Sofia, Sophie, Belle, Poppy, Ruby, Lilliarna we are so proud of each and everyone of you!

“Thank you to our loyal committed parents for all you do! And the biggest thank you…. SARA!”
