A TAMESIDE teenager is combining his love of Lego and dinosaurs to hold a special, one-off themed exhibition this weekend to raise money for Tameside Hospital’s neonatal unit.
Cameron McWiggan’s aptly-named showcase ‘Jurassic Bricks’ will be supporting a cause close to his family’s heart.
His younger brother, James, was stillborn at full term and, three years later, his sister Amy spent 10 weeks in the neonatal unit at the Ashton-based hospital after being born prematurely at 30 weeks.
And the lego-loving youngster is now combining his passions to raise money for those who cared for his family.
The event takes place at Dukinfield Golf Club on Sunday, April 28, from 10am to 4pm, with the £1 entry fee going towards Cameron’s fundraising goal.
The family-friendly event will include life-sized dinosaurs and an array of dazzling Lego displays – including flowers, cars, dinosaurs and characters from the Star Wars series.
He will be joined by other members of Northern Brickworks, a community for adult Lego enthusiasts.
Cameron said: “I would like to thank all the staff from both departments of the hospital for the support, care and dedication they give to so many families within the local community.
“I am looking forward to the event, there should be lots of great displays and we hope to raise lots of money.”
All funds raised will go towards improving the hospital’s neonatal unit facilities for families, as well as the Harebell Suite – a dedicated bereavement suite situated on the Labour Ward to support bereaved parents.
