THE gates to a popular cafe in an Ashton-under-Lyne park will soon be unlocked again, but more volunteers are needed to ensure they stay open.
The cafe at King George the Fifth Playing Fields will be serving drinks and snacks again from 1pm to 4pm on Saturday, April 27.
The Georgie Porgies Cafe closed temporarily recently after its Manager, Molly Dean, had to retire following 12 years of service due to ill health.
It will be staffed by volunteers from the park’s friends group – established in 2012 with the aim of making the park a better place for local residents.
They will be able to answer any questions about volunteering in the cafe or other areas of the park, off Alexandra Road.
