A TALENTED group of local teenagers are celebrating regional success in Futsal.
The Under 13/14s girls team at Sala Futsal Club have recently been crowned northern regional champions in the 2024 England Futsal FA Youth Futsal Cup.
The Tameside-based club, which trains at St Damian’s RC Science College in Ashton-under-Lyne and at Wright Robinson College in Gorton, reached the regional finals after winning the Cheshire round of the competition.
The girls from Sala saw off teams from Merseyside and Tyneside to stay unbeaten all day on the way to winning the competition.
They will now be looking to succeed in the national finals, which will be televised on TNT Sports, at Repton Sports Centre in Derby at the beginning of June.
Sala Futsal Club runs weekly training sessions in Tameside and Gorton, and has teams that play in local leagues and competitions.

Futsal is FIFA’s official form of small-sided indoor football – a five-a-side game played on a basketball size court – which is well known for being a development tool for footballers.
