Learning disability service in Tameside awarded ‘Good’ rating

A CARE agency which provides a vital service in Tameside has retained its overall rating of ‘Good’ from a national regulator.

It follows a recent inspection of Tameside Council’s Learning Disability Service by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), which independently regulates all health and care providers in England.

The service gives personal care to people in their own homes, providing support to people with a physical disability, learning disability and autistic people within a supported living setting.

The CQC found during the inspection that the service is ‘well-led, safe, effective, caring and responsive’ and continues to provide the right care, culture and support for those who access care and support.

The inspection highlighted that the service supported people to have maximum choice and control of their lives, showed people were involved in their care planning, and that these plans were regularly reviewed and adapted to suit people’s changing needs.

Feedback also demonstrated that people receiving care and support were encouraged by staff to be as independent as possible.

Tameside Council’s Executive Member for Adult Social Care said he was “very proud” of the service for maintaining its overall ‘Good’ rating.

Councillor John Taylor added: “Our CQC inspection highlights our hard-working and dedicated staff who continue to provide high-quality care and support, encouraging independence and helping people to lead fulfilled lives.”
